Sweater Failure

I was 98% finished with the Tangled Yoke sweater, tried it on (again) and realized that it's a total failure a mess up top.  The cable turned out ok but the fit of the yoke is poor and not something I can fix without major surgery.  There's a bubble of extra fabric above each underarm, more than is typical for a yoke sweater.  Adding a few decreases, a la raglan sweaters, would probably eliminate that.

I'm very upset that a designer's bad choice messed up something I've been working on since June.  I took many measurements of myself and my favorite sweaters, compared them against the stitch counts and schematic, and thought I had a winner.

I'll try to post photos tomorrow of the problem spots.  Even the magazine photos show the excess fabric at underarm:

Blargh

I am surrounded by idiots.  And I have a migraine, for the eighth day in a row.  But back to the idiots: someone (I hope it's only one person) in my building keeps setting off their smoke alarm and then the whole building's fire alarm.  Which calls the fire department, etc.

As soon as the alarms had stopped I hear some old dude-neighbor yelling down the hall.  He's pissed because someone broke a plate in the hall late Fri night, and he blames the boyfriend of a tenant.  So he decides to stand in his doorway and yell at her.  Wtf?  I talked to her today, she's nice.  We bonded over our mutual dislike of drama.

And I'm still single.  I'm tired of being single, of nobody having time for friends, of being too sick to make plans, tired of all this crap.  Why is half a life too much to ask for?

Picasa Troubles

While writing a post tonight I realized that Picasa deleted a bunch of my photos :(  Most importantly the jumper pics, so those blog posts have no photos!  The photos are on my drive but all formatting is gone, and they're no longer in Picasa folders.  Picasa updated itself this evening so I assume that's the cause.  So I'll be reformatting and reloading photos tomorrow--whoopee.

I meant to show you some madras plaid that I'm hoping to sew a blouse from.  I have a couple patterns to choose from but those photos been affected as well.  Maybe tomorrow I won't have a migraine, will have some energy, and can fix all this as well as sew a little.  Wish me luck...

Crash!

Fun weekend here, on Fri someone bashed into my car then drove away.  The bumper's cracked and half on the ground and other bad stuff :(

I talked to the insurance people today, and called to file a police report.  The police operator asked why I waited so long to make the report.  Because I couldn't figure out how to do it online!  I also felt awful all weekend--adrenaline is not my friend.  It seizes up all my muscles even more than they already are.

One good part: I can walk or bus to almost everything.  Hallelujah!

No Couch For Me

When I have better business sense than the custom couch guy, it's time to get out!  Yes, I really really wanted a couch that would fit my body and be comfortable.  I was willing to pay $2k for it!  What I got was a 30yo frat guy who can't be serious and sees reasonable timelines as threats :p

Please do not do business with Ameer Radwan at Couch, Seattle.  He just doesn't care about his customers.  He has no motivation to correct problems.  He's miserable to work with!  I'd prefer to contact the factory myself and place an order, and avoid his markup, mistakes and utter lack of motivation.  Seattle Home Company has good reviews and apparently also does custom couches.

Noise Pollution

Today is driving me crazy.  There have been loud, annoying noises all morning.  Someone's car alarm went off just outside several times.  A really annoying person kept knocking on a downstairs window like a rabid woodpecker.  A leaf blower was going.  A fire truck just went by.  And so on.

Plus I'm pissed: The custom couch I ordered, to fit my hurting neck just right, was delivered yesterday and is in no way what I ordered.  It's terribly uncomfortable!  I don't exactly have all kinds of extra energy to deal with this, either.  The shop appears to have a good track record, with many satisfied customers.  Why does my couch have to get royally screwed up?!?
